Manchester United handed Eduardo Camavinga boost? 5 European transfers you missed this week

5 European transfers you missed this week

With the transfer window entering its final stage, teams across Europe are desperately hunting for the final pieces of their side. In this article 101 takes a look at five transfers you may have missed this week.

Florenzi swaps Rome for Milan

Alessandro Florenzi, perhaps surprisingly, is still an AS Roma player. The Italian full-back spent last campaign at French side Paris Saint Germain, but has since been deemed surplus to requirements in the French capital upon the arrival of Achraf Hakimi.

As such, the 30-year-old defender, seemingly also unwanted by Roma and Jose Mourinho, has instead joined AC Milan on a season long loan.

As per transfermarkt, the loan move includes an option to buy for the Milanese outfit, but there is no indication as to how much this would set them back.

Atletico Madrid find backup goalkeeper

Atletico Madrid have an undisputed no.1 in Jan Oblak, but have been hunting for a suitable backup option all summer. The Spanish side were at one point lining up a move for Roma’s Robin Olsen, but have since changed tack.

Instead, Atleti have opted for Monaco shot-stopper Benjamin Lecomte, who made 28 Ligue 1 appearances for the side last time out. However, the addition of Bayern Munich no.2 Aleskander Nubel on a two-year loan has allowed them to part ways with Lecomte.

Danjuma joins the Yellow Submarines

From the English South Coast to a European Champion, Villareal have flexed their financial muscles to bring in Bournemouth winger Arnaut Danjuma in a deal worth in excess of 20 million pounds.

The Dutch winger, who scored 15 times in 33 Championship outings last campaign, could not propel Bournemouth back to the Premier League at the first time of asking, but will have the chance to play Champions League football with Unai Emery’s side.

As per the Spanish outfit, the 23-year-old has signed a five year deal in Spain, and has already debuted, playing the final four minutes of their goalless draw with Espanyol.

Stade Rennais sign Camavinga replacement

Meanwhile, Manchester United may have been handed a boost in their reported pursuit of Eduardo Camavingam with Stade Rennais announcing the newest addition to their squad.

Baptiste Santamaria joins the French outfit from Bundesliga side SC Freiburg on a four year deal, and will bolster the ranks of Rennes central mdfield. According to transfermarkt, this leaves the Ligue 1 side with six options in central midfield, potentially paving the way for Camavinga’s departure in the final weeks of the transfer window.

Locatelli joins Juventus

Finally, in the biggest move of the week, Juventus have sealed a deal for impressive midfielder Manuel Locatelli. The young Italian impressed at Euro 2020, and interest was significant in the Sassuolo midfielder.

Arsenal and Liverpool were thought to have expressed interest in signing the 23-year-old, with Arsenal even thought to have tabled a better offer than Juventus. However, the player had his heart set on Turin, and ultimately got his wish.

The deal is an initial loan, with an obligation to buy the player for 35 million euros upon Juventus winning their first point of the 2022/23 campaign.
