Manchester United transfer news: Fred ‘confirmed’, Paul Pogba staying

Manchester United & Fred

Will Monday be the day that Manchester United finally confirm that they’ve signed Fred?

According to Fabrizio Romano, who works for the Guardian amongst others, the latest updates have made a lot of Man United fans happy.

Romano claimed on Monday morning that Man United’s deal to sign Fred is done.

Indeed, Romano has announced that Fred is ‘confirmed’, even though neither Man United nor Shakhtar Donetsk have yet announced the deal.

Nevertheless, it’s worth noting that the Times also believe that Fred’s move to Old Trafford is imminent. On Monday morning in the broadsheet readers are told:

Manchester United were close to securing their first signing of the summer last night as Fred was given permission to leave Brazil’s pre-World Cup camp to undergo a medical before a £52 million transfer.

The Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder is thought to have gone to Manchester to finalise the deal after appearing as a substitute in Brazil’s 2-0 victory over Croatia.

Paul Pogba staying at Man United

Fabrizio Romano has also posted an update on Paul Pogba.

Pogba struggled at Old Trafford last season as he’s struggling to live up to his 100 million euro price tag.

Jose Mourinho appeared to fall out with Pogba in 2017-18, as the French international was dropped from the United side.

Yet, any thoughts that Pogba may leave United this summer have been shelved.

Romano claims that Jose Mourinho has decided that Pogba will remain at the Theatre of Dreams.
