Manchester United forward Anthony Martial set to complete January loan to Sevilla

French international forward Anthony Martial seemingly has one foot out of the door at Old Trafford after he edges closer to a completed January loan move to La Liga outfit Sevilla.

Video footage posted by transfer insider Fabrizio Romano via GOL TV’s José Manuel Oliva showed Martial arriving at Seville Airport and posing for pictures with the press ahead of his approved loan to the Andalusian outfit for the remainder of the 2021-22 season.

Martial’s immediate future at United has long been in doubt especially after a recently reported bust-up with interim boss Ralf Rangnick that resulted in his failure to be included in the team for the Red Devil’s draw with Aston Villa.

The former AS Monaco starlet remained adrift at United this season despite the managerial change and featured just eight times in the Premier League and logged only 21-minutes of action irrespective of niggling fitness concerns across a handful of fixtures.

Manchester United give clue in long-term managerial plan with tactical change

Though normally a proponent of a 4-2-2-2 deployment, interim boss Ralf Rangnick has overseen a tactical change at Manchester United that could lend weight to the notion that the Red Devil’s continue to be interested in two specific names as their next long-term appointment at Old Trafford according to the Manchester Evening News.

A recent shift back to a 4-3-3 is said to be a clue that points to the club aiming for either Ajax Amsterdam tactician Erik ten Hag or former Tottenham boss and current Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino.

United have been linked with both names at different points this season even before the club decided to appoint Rangnick on a temporary basis but are said to be keen on either option once the German heads to board level in a consultancy role for two years.

Both Ten Hag and Pochettino are great admirers of a 4-3-3 or some variation of it, and if the club is looking to lay that tactical framework under Rangnick, it is not out of the realm of possibility that long-term building blocks are beginning to be laid now before an expected summer arrival.
