Manchester United eyeing Leicester City’s Wesley Fofana

A recent report from France has credited Manchester United with an interest in Leicester City defender Wesley Fofana.

Fofana’s Leicester City stint

Fofana made the switch to Leicester City in the previous summer transfer window.

The central defender moved from Ligue 1 side St Etienne. Despite still currently only being just 20 years of age, Leicester are believed to have paid a fee which could eventually rise to £30m for the youngster.

In spite of his limited experience at the top level, Fofana has already been able to establish himself as a key figure for the Foxes.

The France under-21 international has notched 21 Premier League outings to date, as well as six in the Europa League under Brendan Rodgers, who he recently described as a ‘papa poule’, which translates to ‘father hen’:

“I had discussed with him before arriving, when we were negotiating between Leicester and Saint-Etienne. Straight away, I was gripped by the project, I wanted to come.

“He had spoken to me in a straightforward way, he told me things clearly, that I was a young player, that he wanted me and that he wanted to make me grow, that he was not going to give me an easy ride, and that it was up to me to take my place.

“He’s supporting me all the time. We’ll say he’s a ‘papa poule’.”

Man United linked with Wesley Fofana

Now though, despite seemingly settling in well at the King Power, Fofana is already being linked with a move away.

According to Goal citing French outlet Foot Mercato, Manchester United are eyeing a move for Fofana after an impressive debut season in England.

No actual fee is mentioned in the report. However, it is speculated that given his age and his length of contract – which runs until 2025 – Leicester would likely demand a huge fee.
