Manchester United tipped to launch 70 million euro bid for Real Madrid midfielder

Man United eyeing Real Madrid’s Valverde

Manchester United could once again dip into the club coffers to sanction a big-money move after the club has been linked with interest in Real Madrid’s 23-year-old Uruguayan international midfielder Federico Valverde.

The Peñarol youth academy graduate has fallen out of favor at the Santiago Bernabeu since the return of Italian headmaster Carlo Ancelotti this summer, according to Spanish publication El Nacional.

Though Valverde had started eight times in the league before an ankle sprain sidelined him for three-straight La Liga fixtures, as well as Real’s matchday four clash with Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League, the feeling is that Valverde is considering testing new waters after the club brought in French starlet Eduardo Camavinga this summer, whilst remaining hopeful of completing a free deal for Paul Pogba in 2022 with the French midfield fulcrum looking set to break away from Manchester United for the second time in his career.

Should Pogba make his way to the Spanish capital, and Camavinga continue his rapid development, a pathway for Valverde could exist in the opposite direction to Pogba, with United considering making a €70 million bid for the £58.5 million-rated Uruguayan.

Zidane reunion on the cards at Old Trafford?

Should Federico Valverde jet-set to the Premier League and look for fresh grazing grounds at Manchester United, there is a potential reunion date with former boss Zinedine Zidane in store at Old Trafford.

Pressure continues to mount on current boss Ole Gunnar Solskjær this season, as United sit sixth in the Premier League and 9-points behind leaders Chelsea as they go into their weekend fixture against Watford at Vicarage Road.

The persistent links pointing toward Zidane replacing the former Norwegian striker simply will not go away, though the iconic ex-French midfielder recently set a potential timeline on a summer arrival at United, should he take up a new position at the Theatre of Dreams.

It is unclear if the Red Devils will plan any business involving Valverde in January, but should they make a push for the Uruguayan in the summer, it certainly could be in conjunction with a Zidane appointment, gifting the Frenchman a midfielder that shone under his command.
