Manchester City remain keen on Harry Kane; could offer player swap plus cash

Premier League champions Manchester City are aiming to keep themselves at the top of the football ladder in England this summer, as they continue to express considerable interest in Tottenham and England star Harry Kane.

With long-time first-choice striker and club record goalscorer Sergio Agüero now at Barcelona, and with Gabriel Jesus having never hit the heights many first thought him capable of, City is looking for a top-class center-forward to keep them ahead of rivals Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool.

The Citizens are now linked with the possibility of offering a swap deal for the England hitman, with Jesus’ name mentioned alongside Bernardo Silva, Riyad Mahrez and, surprisingly, Raheem Sterling.

There are suggestions that Kane could even make the decision not to report for pre-season training with Spurs in the run-up to the 2021-22 Premier League season, in a bid to force a move to a club that will put him in line for major honors as his career enters its prime years.

Barcelona’s Ilaix Moriba now on City’s radar

Manchester City and Premier League rivals Chelsea could be set to square off against one another for the services of highly-touted Barcelona youngster Ilaix Moriba this summer, with the 18-year-old Spanish youth international holding out amid contract renewal talks with the Catalan club.

Moriba has been unable to train with the first team amidst the uncertainty of his contract situation at the Camp Nou, and with just one year left on his current deal, Barcelona faces the prospect of the midfielder either leaving on a free, or even being poached this summer by one of the aforementioned English giants.

There is scope for both clubs to press forward in a potential move for the Guinean-born midfielder, with Chelsea lacking desirable (and long-term) depth in the middle of the park, and three of Manchester City’s five central options being a minimum of 30-years-old. A deal for Moriba is just the sort of move the Sky Blues have sanctioned in the past as well, with Pep Guardiola tapping into his connections and history with Barcelona to prise players away.

Manchester City to cash in on Ivan Ilić with Hellas Verona keen on Serbian

Young Serbian international Ivan Ilić could finally be on his way out of Manchester City to begin a new chapter this summer, with Serie A outfit Hellas Verona keen to agree a permanent deal with the Citizens for his services.

Ilić has been at City since 2017, when he moved from Serbian giants Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade), but has not made a single appearance for the club in over four years. He did however embark on successful loan spells during that time, particularly with NAC Breda in 2019-20, and Hellas Verona last season – during which he made 29-appearances in Serie A while scoring two goals. He also scored in his only Coppa Italia appearance against then-Serie B outfit Venezia; a 6-4 win on penalties after a 3-3 draw through 120-minutes.

As reported in MailOnline, via Sky Italia, Verona are prepared to make an important investment in the 20-year-old, who could very well give them a long-term anchor in midfield as the club aim to remain established in the top flight of the Italian football pyramid, after doing well to finish 10th in 2020-21.
