Manchester City reject offer for Joao Cancelo despite squad exile

Joao Cancelo has found himself on the outskirts of the Manchester City squad in recent weeks.

Joao Cancelo has been a mainstay in Manchester City’s backline for several years now.

His inverted full-back role has proven key to Manchester City’s success and inspired other sides in the division to try similar roles for their full-backs.

However, Pep Guardiola has dropped Cancelo in recent weeks over players such as teenager, Rico Lewis.

Cancelo has been left on the bench in three of Man City’s last five league games and has only completed 90 minutes once in the Sky Blues’ last six Premier League games.

This has caused plenty of speculation over the full-back’s future at the Etihad.

However, Manchester City are seemingly not eager to part ways with Cancelo just yet.

According to Todofichajes, Cancelo’s agent Jorge Mendes sent a loan offer to Man City recently from AC Milan with the Serie A champions looking to take the 28-year-old for the next 18 months.

The Premier League club rejected the offer but the report states that Milan will try again in the summer if Cancelo’s situation has not changed.
