Aguero to depart Man City
It was of course announced earlier this year that Sergio Aguero will depart Manchester City upon the expiration of his contract this summer.
The Argentine will go down as one of both Man City and the Premier League’s greatest-ever players.
Aguero has netted 182 times in the English top-flight, making him the division’s 4th highest top-scorer ever, and the highest-scoring non-Englishman on the list. The forward is currently just five goals shy of Andy Cole in 3rd, and could yet overtake him before the season’s end, with a bit of luck.
When Aguero does move on, he will likely need replacing.
Granted, City did essentially win the Premier League this season without a traditional no.9, but it is nevertheless safe to assume that the Sky Blues will want to replace arguably their greatest ever player at some point in the near future.
Man City and Chelsea linked with Lautaro Martinez
One player whom Man City (and pretty much every other top team for that matter) have been linked with is Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.
Given the fact that he is likely going to stand as one of the top strikers of the next decade, though, there will be considerable competition for the Norwegian’s signature.
So, this may force teams to look elsewhere to reinforce their options up top.
In turn, a report from 90min suggests that one player whom a number of clubs are looking at is Inter Milan and Argentina striker, Lautaro Martinez.
Martinez has been impressing at Inter for several years now, and racked up 16 goals and eight assists in 36 outings this term, en route to the Nerazzurri’s first Serie A title in over a decade.
According to 90min, all of Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool have asked Inter to keep them informed of any developments regarding Martinez’s future.
It is added that the hitman is more likely than Romelu Lukaku to leave Milan, and could be available for less than £70m.
