The powers that be at Manchester United are considering a move for another key transfer target on the part of Premier League rivals Arsenal, according to reports.

The week, to date, has of course seen both the Red Devils and Gunners take their place front and centre in the media headlines.

This comes with the two heavyweights of English football primed to go head-to-head on the transfer front, amid a battle for the services of highly-regarded Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word doing the rounds in the media on Friday is anything to go by, then it appears that the summer conflict between the respective boards at Old Trafford and the Emirates may not come to an end there.

This comes with the former now understood to have had their interest piqued by another player long linked with a move to north London.

The individual in question? Youri Tielemans.

Belgian international Tielemans' Arsenal switch was of course viewed as something of a formality across the early weeks of the summer, amid suggestions that the Leicester City standout had been identified as a priority target on the part of Mikel Arteta and co.

As the weeks continue to pass, though, and the Gunners thrash out deals for the likes of Fabio Vieira and Gabriel Jesus, the Tielemans chatter has somewhat faded into the background.

And such hesitation on Arsenal's part, it would seem, has allowed Manchester United to enter the fray.

As per a report from Alex Crook of talkSPORT:

'Arsenal’s failure to agree a deal for Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans has put Manchester United on high alert.'

Erik ten Hag is said to be a huge fan of the talents possessed by the midfield all-rounder, with a swoop on the part of the Red Devils over the coming weeks, as a result, not to be ruled out.
