The following story has been dubbed an EXCLUSIVE by Goal.com, which may lead many to question it’s credibility, however there may be more than a grain of truth to the notion that Manchester United will try to sign Sami Khedira from Real Madrid in January.
Khedira’s future at the Santiago Bernabeu has been the subject of discussion for months now, with the German World Cup winner set to see his Real Madrid contract expire at the end of the season.
Khedira has still given no indication whether he is staying or leaving when his contract expires in June, while many are reporting that the midfielder is looking for a pay day from the next contract he signs.
With that in mind, Man United can undoubtedly do with another top draw defensive midfielder in their ranks, while, if Khedira is to leave Spain, Real Madrid would prefer to sell him for cash in January rather than let him go for free in the summer.
Goal.com now chime in saying:
Manchester United are plotting a £10 million January bid for Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira.
United have turned their attentions to the Germany World Cup winner after being informed by Roma that Louis Van Gaal’s No.1 midfield target Kevin Strootman will not be allowed to move when the transfer window reopens.
Khedira is understood to be keen to move to a club in the Champions League but United are willing to match his £200,000-a-week wage demands in order to lure him to Old Trafford.
