Man United boost? Borussia Dortmund tipped to sacrifice Sancho in favour of keeping hold of Haaland
Any and all suitors of Jadon Sancho have today been handed a boost, amid claims that Borussia Dortmund may be left with no choice but to sell their star winger this summer.
Old Trafford links
The story surrounding the future of Dortmund star Sancho of course proved one of the talking points of the summer window.
On the back of another scintillating campaign at Signal Iduna Park, during which he racked up an eye-watering 20 goals and 20 assists, widespread reports hinted at a potential Premier League return for the 20-year-old.
The likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and even former club Manchester City were all tipped as possible landing spots, though it was of course Manchester United who were most heavily linked.
The Red Devils were known to be on the lookout for reinforcements out wide, with Sancho having been identified as the club’s first-choice target.
A number of reliable sources even went as far as to suggest that an agreement on the personal terms of a contract had long been found between the parties.

Evidently, however, upon the transfer deadline coming and passing, Sancho remained a Dortmund player, as the United board failed to reach an agreement with their Bundesliga counterparts.
Exit incoming?
But, as outlined above, if the latest word stemming from the European media this weekend is to be believed, then the Reds, or any other interested club for that matter, could this summer finally see a pursuit of Sancho bear fruit.
This comes amid claims that BVB may now be ready to part ways with their talented English international.
As per a report from Bild, Dortmund, from a financial standpoint, have been hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, Edin Terzic’s men currently sit 6th in the Bundesliga table, well off the pace of the top-4.
In turn, if, come the campaign’s conclusion, the German heavyweights have not climbed back into a Champions League-clinching spot, and therefore miss out on the money which comes with it, a major sale may be required.
Two players, from here, immediately spring to mind, in the form of the aforementioned Sancho, and Erling Haaland.
Bild, though, suggest that Dortmund would rather keep hold of the latter, meaning a high-profile transfer for Sancho may finally be on the cards ahead of next season.
