Man City open to selling Raheem Sterling this summer

Man City open to selling Raheem Sterling this summer

Raheem Sterling’s struggles

Raheem Sterling has of course been a mainstay in Manchester City’s attack for many years now.

In 285 outings for the Sky Blues, the attacker has managed to rack up 113 goals and 86 assists – playing a key role in the club’s recent dominance of the English top-flight.

However, recent months have seen Pep Guardiola limit Sterling’s game-time, both in the league and in Europe.

The former Liverpool man featured for just two minutes over two legs as City saw off Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League’s quarter-finals, before then being left on the bench for the first of two semi-final meetings with PSG earlier this week.

Sterling has also struggled in the Premier League of late, starting just two of the Sky Blues’ last six.

Sterling to leave Man City?

And now, amid a difficult stretch in his career, Sterling has been linked with a move away from the Etihad

The wide-man fuelled speculation over a potential Bernabeu switch earlier this year, when he refused to rule out joining Real Madrid.

Then, earlier this month, it was reported that Sterling is very much back on Los Blancos’ transfer radar, after losing his starting berth to Phil Foden.

And, according to a report from Football Insider, City would at least be willing to entertain a bid from Real, should one materialise.

FI explain that Pep Guardiola is planning an overhaul of the Man City attack this summer, which could see Sterling leave, with Erling Haaland and Jack Grealish coming in.

It is added that Sterling is no longer considered to be as integral a player as he once was by Guardiola, with the Spaniard willing to sell for the right offer. The former Liverpool man is said to be valued at around £80m.
