Man City & Algeria
When it comes to football news out of Algeria, Le Buteur are often the leading source.
On Sunday the North African news outlet have claimed that Man City are targeting an Algerian international to fill in for the injured Benjamin Mendy.
Mendy, who joined the Sky Blues from Moanco in the summer, is now on the sidelines for a significant period.
It may take Mendy nine months to recover from a ruptured ACL suffered during the Premier League match against Crystal Palace.
Fabian Delph has been used by Pep Guardiola to plug his Mendy size hole in matches against Shakthar Donetsk and Chelsea.
But Delph is unlikely to be a long term solution, with Guardiola tipped to head into the transfer market this January.
Target: Napoli’s Faouzi Ghoulam
Faouzi Ghoulam is Man City’s top target in the next transfer window, report Le Buteur.
The 26-year-old was the subject of much transfer speculation over the summer, with Chelsea and Liverpool apparently trying to bring him to the Premier League.
However, Napoli resisted offers and kept hold of their man despite many of Europe’s top clubs trying to lure him away.
But Ghoulam is out of contract at the end of the season, and Man City would likely prove too big a lure for the defender to turn down.
It’s worth noting that Ghoulam suffered an injury on Sunday for Napoli. He went off with a hamstring problem.

Riyad Mahrez dropped
Staying with Algerian football, there have been a couple of surprises with the latest squad.
Algeria have dropped the current African Footballer of the Year Riyad Mahrez and his Leicester City team-mate Islam Slimani from the squad for next weekend’s World Cup qualifier against Cameroon.
