Since his £31m move from Valencia, Andre Gomes has endured a torrid in Catalunya.
Having enjoyed a thoroughly successful stint in Valencia, the Portuguese international’s career has hit a tricky patch.
Gomes was tipped to take the mantle of Andres Iniesta, however, just three assists in 47 appearances suggests otherwise.
President of Los Blancos Florentino Perez has urged Jose Mourinho to make an offer for the midfielder.
Perez believes that Gomes would suit the style of the Premier League.
Tottenham came close to signing the 24-year-old on transfer deadline day.
Perez knows that Mourinho wants the Portuguese player and is convincing him to take him off the hands of their rivals.
Mourinho wants Gomes
Jose Mourinho is understood to be a fan of the former Valencia midfielder.
The Portuguese manager believes that he can coach his fellow countryman back to his best.
Right now, Manchester United are well stocked in Gomes’ position with the likes of Micheal Carrick, Paul Pogba, Andre Herrera, Nemanja Matic and Marouane Fellaini.
However, with Carrick set to retire at the end of the season, Mourinho sees Gomes as his replacemnet.
The big issue for Andre Gomes now is that Barcelona still have Ivan Rakitic, Sergio Busquets and Andres Iniesta all going strong.
This leaves question marks over where he fits into the team at Barca.
This means that he may wish to find a new club in order to seek more game time and an opportunity to re-establish his career.
In our opinion, a move to the Premier League would be great for Andre Gomes.
Working under a coach like Mourinho or Mauricio Pochettino would be perfect for him.
But not only would it be good for Gomes, we believe that the club to sign him would also have a hell of a talent on their hands.
