Lyon chief claims club yet to receive bids for Arsenal-linked Aouar/Gunners tipped to make ‘concrete’ offer

Some fresh updates concerning Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar have been forthcoming online over the last 24 hours.

No bids made for Aouar

Aouar, 22, has been on Lyon’s books since 2009.

And since breaking into the first-team ranks of the Ligue 1 giants for the first time at the beginning of 2017, the Lyon native has gone on to establish himself as one of the most highly-regarded talents in French football.

All told, the youngster has notched 139 appearances across all competitions for Lyon, chipping in with 24 goals and 27 assists along the way.

Such impressive displays have seen a host of Europe’s top outfits, including Manchester City, Juventus and Arsenal, all linked with the midfielder.

The latter of this trio were even said to have tabled a cash-plus-player offer for Aouar earlier this month.

However, if recent comments on the part of Lyon’s sporting director are to be believed, then no such bid was made.

Speaking on the back of his side’s loss on Tuesday, Juninho stated that Les Gones have not received ‘anything’ for Aouar:

“For now, there is nothing for these players, we have not received anything for Houssem, we have not received anything for Memphis.”

Aouar to Juventus reports ‘not accurate’

On a slightly more positive note for the Gunners, Juventus, who, as mentioned above, have also been linked with the Lyon standout, do not look likely to be landing Aouar anytime soon.

Speaking in the latest edition of ‘Ask Ornstein’ (full video can be seen below), The Athletic’s David Ornstein was drawn on reports suggesting that Aouar is destined to sign for Juventus.

And, after first confirming that such reports are ‘not accurate’, Ornstein went on to add that, as far as he is aware, the Old Lady feel there is no chance of a deal for Aouar developing this summer:

“What I do know is that reports suggesting Aouar is going to sign for Juventus are not accurate. The last I knew, the feeling at Juventus was there was no chance of that happening, so maybe Arsenal can be hopeful.”

It has also been reported on Wednesday evening that the Gunners will make a ‘concrete’ offer for the Frenchman soon:
