Louis van Gaal was personally doing research on Lazio’s Lucas Biglia in July [Het Laatste Nieuws]

So why hasn’t Lucas Biglia signed for Manchester United yet?

Monday got off to a bang as the Sun revealed that Man United will “land” Lazio midfielder Lucas Biglia for £17.5m.

The red-top claimed that Louis van Gaal wants to have Biglia available for selection in the Champions League play-off game against Club Brugge next week.

Twenty-four hours and the deal still isn’t done, however Kristof Terreur from Belgium daily Het Laatste Nieuws has today revealed that Louis van Gaal was personally doing research on Lucas Biglia in July.

According to Terreur, Van Gaal called up a former Anderlecht manager earlier in the summer to specifically ask “Is Biglia good enough for Manchester United?”

The Red Devils boss was told “yes”.

Elsewhere, the Express, relying on other sources, are claiming that United have agreed a four-year contract with Biglia, and the 29-year-old Argentine is set to earn £2.4m a season at Old Trafford.

Video evidence of Lucas Biglia is below.
