Liverpool boss Klopp ‘not interested’ in signing new goalkeeper before domestic window shuts & will stick with Adrian vs Everton

Jurgen Klopp

Reports suggesting that Liverpool are eager to sign a new goalkeeper over the coming days appear to be wide of the mark.

Klopp not eyeing a new keeper

The international transfer window, of course, slammed shut on Monday evening.

However, the domestic English window, which allows Premier League and EFL clubs to make transfers amongst themselves, remains open until October 16th.

This, in turn, has given rise to rumours that Liverpool are looking to sign a new shot-stopper.

With Alisson potentially set to be sidelined for six weeks, the Reds must call upon Adrian between the sticks at present.

The Spaniard, though, has proven somewhat unreliable since signing for Liverpool.

The former West Ham man did a decent job at the beginning of the 2019/20 campaign, when he was forced to deputise for an injured Alisson.

But, in the Champions League’s knockout rounds earlier this year, and against Aston Villa last Sunday, Adrian looked pretty dismal.

In turn, on the back of Liverpool’s drubbing at the hands of Villa, it has been reported that the Merseysiders have expressed an interest in Stoke’s Jack Butland.

However, the Mirror’s David Anderson has, on Sunday, moved to firmly refute such claims.

It is instead claimed that Jurgen Klopp is not interested in signing Butland, or any goalkeeper for that matter, before the close of the domestic transfer window.

Liverpool vs Everton

As alluded to by Anderson above, meanwhile, Adrian is expected to start for Liverpool vs Everton next weekend.

The Premier League champions boast a superb record against their cross-town rivals.

However, Everton have been in sensational form thus far this season, and currently sit top of the Premier League, having picked up maximum points from their opening four outings.
