Liverpool standing firm
Philippe Coutinho may well still join Barcelona but you have to admire Liverpool’s stance up to now.
Jurgen Klopp and the Liverpool hierarchy are making this as difficult as possible for Barcelona to sign one of their key assets.
And, this comes even with all the money Barcelona have available after losing Neymar to PSG for a world record transfer fee.
Even the Catalan press – usually so bullish about Coutinho – have their doubts on Friday…
Liverpool refuse to name a price for Philippe Coutinho
Mundo Deportivo report on Friday that Liverpool have now rejected two offers for Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona.
The first was worth 70 million euros plus 10 million euros in incentives. Barcelona’s second bid for Philippe Coutinho was worth 100 million euros.
Gabriel Sans in Mundo Deportivo even comes across as an upset kid when he reveals how Liverpool are refusing to name their price for Philippe Coutinho.
The Merseyside giants simply don’t want to sell the Brazilian magician.
Dembele & Coutinho remain priorities for Barcelona
Despite the above and how Borussia Dortmund are playing hardball over Ousmane Dembele, Barcelona remain keen on the French winger and Coutinho.
Barcelona club sources reveal that Dembele and Coutinho remain Plan A for Barcelona this summer. Plan B is not close to being activated.
Once again, the Catalan press confirm that Barcelona have agreed personal terms with Philippe Coutinho.
Coutinho likely to miss Watford v Liverpool
But, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is playing hardball over Coutinho and refuses to sell.
Philippe Coutinho is likely to miss Liverpool’s first game of the Premier League season, at Watford on Saturday with a “back problem”.
Barcelona will have a keen eye on Liverpool’s Champions League play-off with Hoffenheim which could well decide Coutinho’s future.
