Liverpool have won the race to sign highly-rated youngster Trey Nyoni from Leicester.
The news comes via The Secret Scout on Twitter, who tweeted:
“Been told Liverpool have won the race to sign England international 16-year-old Trey Nyoni from Leicester. Liverpool been working on the deal for months. Central Midfielder one of the best in his age groups.”
Nyoni is an attacking midfielder who scored two and assisted one in 15 games for Leicester City’s under-18 team.
Whilst Nyoni may be a good signing for the future, Liverpool still need to find another more experienced central midfielder ahead of next season.
Alexis Mac Alister and Dominik Szoboszlai have been signed already, but the sales of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho on top of the players who left in late June/July means the Reds are still somewhat short in that area.
The current favourite for Liverpool to sign is Southampton’s Romeo Lavia.
