A series of updates surrounding the efforts of Premier League outfit Liverpool on the transfer front have surfaced online on Thursday.

Bayer bound?

The first centers on a potential departure from Anfield over the weeks ahead.

The player in question? Nathaniel Phillips.

Central defender Phillips was of course thrust into the limelight on the red half of Merseyside last season. This came with Jurgen Klopp having been left with little choice but to make use of his less favoured options at the back, amid something of an injury crisis.

Phillips, though, to his credit, went on to take full advantage of the opportunity afforded to him, impressing in a leader’s role at the heart of the Reds’ backline.

With Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez both closing on full fitness, and Ibrahima Konate having further reinforced the defensive options at Anfield already this summer, however, Phillips’ future remains altogether up in the air.

And one club seemingly keen on taking advantage of this situation, according to reports, are Bayer Leverkusen.

According to Sky Sports, the Bundesliga outfit have ‘sounded out’ the possibility of luring the 24-year-old – who previously impressed during a loan stint with Stuttgart – back to Germany.

Also keen on Phillips, meanwhile, are all of Brighton, Burnley, Newcastle and West Ham.

Aouar in demand

Turning our attentions to potential arrivals on Merseyside, Liverpool are said to have stepped up their pursuit of fresh faces in the middle of the park.

Klopp is no doubt keen to add to his midfield ranks before the fast-approaching new season gets underway, following the departure of key man Georginio Wijnaldum.

And one player to have seemingly been identified as an ideal addition is Olympique Lyonnais standout Houssem Aouar.

As per a report from Empire of the Kop, citing CaughtOffside, Liverpool’s eagerness to land creator Aouar has proven a central factor in Premier League rivals Arsenal turning their attentions elsewhere.

The Reds are said to boast a ‘growing interest’ in the French international, who could be available for a cut-price fee this summer on the back of a difficult campaign at the Groupama Stadium.

Serie A giants Juventus, meanwhile, maintain a long-standing interest in Aouar, but, as things stand, it appears to be Klopp and co. who lead the way in the race to land the 23-year-old.

Sparta starlet eyed

Further reports in the media on Thursday, though, suggest that those in a position of power at Anfield are not only eyeing signings for the present, but the future, too.

This comes amid suggestions that Liverpool have also set their sights on Sparta Prague sensation Adam Hlozek.

The attacker, who chiefly lines out through the middle but is equally comfortable playing out wide, enjoyed a breakout campaign in his home country in 2020/21.

This saw Hlozek, at just 18, rack up 15 goals and 9 assists across 23 appearances.

In turn, it should come as little surprise to hear that a host of clubs across the continent have set their sights on the starlet’s signature.

And one such outfit, according to Football Insider, come in the form of the aforementioned Liverpool. It is suggested that the Reds, having sent scouts to watch Hlozek in Champions League qualifier action in midweek, are now ‘lining up a move’ for the striker.

This comes as Klopp and co. ‘look to bring in a youthful and highly promising forward who can be developed’ over the coming seasons.
