Liverpool sign Anderson Arroyo
The transfer window may be closed, but Liverpool are still doing deals.
On Tuesday Liverpool have confirmed the signing of defender Anderson Arroyo.
Arroyo is an 18-year-old Colombian U20 international. Liverpool signed the teenager from Fortaleza CEIF, where Arroyo has made 18 appearances over three seasons.
But it’s going to be a while before Liverpool fans see their new signing in action. As confirmed on the Liverpool website:
Liverpool FC can now confirm the completion of the signing of defender Anderson Arroyo, who has immediately moved to Real Mallorca on an 18-month loan deal.
Mallorca are currently top of the second division in Spain, and they look like dead-certs to win promotion back to La Liga.
According to reports, Arroyo is able to play at either full-back slots, while he’s known for his attacking prowess.
Liverpool’s Adam Lallana sent off vs Tottenham
Adam Lallana was sent off on Monday for Liverpool U23s in a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham.
England international Lallana gave the officials little choice after he throttled Spurs U23 captain George Marsh.
Lallana’s behaviour was unacceptable and hugely out of character for the midfielder.
The spark came as Marsh went into Lallana’s back when challenging for a high ball.
While Marsh may have fouled Lallana in the air, the reaction of the Liverpool star was hugely disproportionate.
Lallana, who was playing in the match to regain match fitness from a thigh injury, attacked Marsh by wrapping his hands around the Spurs midfielder’s neck. It was shocking.
Cue the obvious red card, while Lallana was dragged away from the scene by his Liverpool team mates.
Despite being sent off for the U23s, Lallana is still available for selection for Jurgen Klopp and the senior side.
