Liverpool and FSG release official statement on the future of Philippe Coutinho

Liverpool have released a statement regarding the ongoing transfer speculation surrounding star man Philippe Coutinho.
Barcelona have already had multiple bids rejected for the Brazilian. So far, Klopp’s comments have done little to deter the Spanish giants from their interest in the player.
Now, owners of the club, Fenways Sports Group (FSG) have released an official statement. FSG share Klopp’s sentiments and it’s now on public record.
Barcelona view Coutinho as a potential replacement for Neymar, who joined PSG last week for a world-record 222m Euro fee.
With the Reds man seemingly out of the question – for now, anyway – Barca may focus on Borussia Dortmund youngster Ousmane Dembele.
The statement reads as follows:
We wish to offer clarity as regards our position on a possible transfer of Philippe Coutinho.
The club’s definitive stance is that no offers for Philippe will be considered and he will remain a member of Liverpool Football Club when the summer window closes.
While the statement is short, it certainly gets its point across.
If one wants to read into it a bit more, it’s worth noting that the statement is about this transfer window and makes no mention of Coutinho’s future past this season.
Liverpool’s campaign begins on Saturday with an away trip to Watford. Given the statement, Coutinho is expected to be involved at Vicarage Road.
