Tony Barrett, The Times’ Merseyside based football writer, has announced first thing on Monday morning that Liverpool may be in the market for a keeper.
Having allowed Pepe Reina to move to Bayern munich earlier in the summer, there now seems to be an extra spot at Anfield for a back-up goalie to Simon Mignolet.
With that in mind, Liverpool are now being touted to make a move for former Barcelona keeper Victor Valdes, who is currently working on regaining his fitness after suffering a bad knee injury.
Valdes was expected to join Monaco until his fitness setback, but that move is now long gone.
As Valdes is a free agent, Liverpool do not need to make a move for the 32-year-old Spaniard before the transfer window closes, and thus the Reds may only make a move in the Autumn.
Liverpool have lined up a move for Victor Valdes but are prepared to wait until the autumn in order for the free agent to prove his fitness.
