‘Luis Suarez to join Chelsea’
The transfer window is closed until the summer, yet, like addicts unable to kick the habit, the English tabloid press have jumped on a fresh rumour this Wednesday.
In hard-to-believe news, reports are widespread that former Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is now a target for Chelsea.
Of course, Suarez is current starring at Barcelona.
The 31-year-old Uruguayan has scored 20 goals in 33 matches for the Catalans in all competitions this season.
Will Luis Enrique replace Antonio Conte?
The Suarez to Chelsea story comes on the back of claims that Luis Enrique could replace Antonio Conte in the Chelsea dugout.
Belief is high that Conte’s Chelsea career is drawing to a close following Monday’s defeat at Watford.
Chelsea have lost three of their last four games, while the Blues have won just two games in their last 10.
Enrique is out of contract after his time at Barcelona, and the Spanish boss is the favourites with the bookies to replace Conte.
Now, Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda has claimed that if Enrique gets the Chelsea job, he’ll want to sign Suarez. Inda said:
The great goal of Luis Enrique if he signs for Chelsea would be to sign Luis Suarez.
Luis Enrique to Chelsea?
But how likely is it that Enrique gets the Chelsea job?
According to Spanish paper Sport on Wednesday, Enrique is waiting for Conte to be fired at Stamford Bridge.
It’s believed Enrique will sign a 2-and-a-half-year contract to take over the Blues.
