Liverpool-linked Patson Daka confirms he is a fan of the Reds

Daka’s RB Salzburg stint

Patson Daka joined Austrian outfit RB Salzburg in 2017, departing Zambian side Kafue Celtic FC.

Daka has since proven a solid player for Salzburg, but recent years had of course seen the spotlight largely hogged by Erling Haaland.

However, since Haaland’s departure for Borussia Dortmund, Daka has done a fine job of filling the Norwegian’s boots.

In 13 league outings this season, for example, the Zambian international has scored 13 goals, as well as providing five assists.

Daka also racked up an impressive 27 goals and 12 assists in 45 outings across all competitions last season.

Such fine form, in turn, has inevitably seen Daka linked with a number of top clubs over the last year or so.

Two such sides come from the Premier League, in the form of Liverpool and West Ham United.

And now, during a recent interview, the 22-year-old revealed his admiration for one of these clubs – Liverpool – as well as Barcelona. The attacker went on to label his trip to Anfield in the Champions League last season as a ‘very special moment’:

“I’ve always been a fan of Liverpool and Barcelona. When we played Liverpool last season in the Champions League at Anfield, it was a very special moment.”

Daka added:

“I do not necessarily aspire to follow in Haaland’s footsteps, but every player has the ambition to progress and go as far as possible in their careers It is not something that obsesses me. The present moment will determine my future.

“When it is my turn to leave the club, a new player will take the limelight and will be considered my successor.”
