Arsenal’s chase for Thomas Lemar gets more complicated!
Arsenal have been linked with Monaco winger Thomas Lemar for the whole summer.
On Friday, L’Equipe had a significant update on Lemar and there appears to be good news for Arsenal, in terms of signing one of their top targets.
Arsenal have made a third offer for Lemar this summer. This bid was for 50 million euros.
The Gunners offered 40 million euros and then 45 million euros for Lemar with their two initial offers.
The reason L’Equipe offered Arsenal fans hope on Lemar, despite a third rejected bid, is due to the fact that Monaco and the player are now reportedly coming round to the idea of a sale.
Liverpool join the race for Lemar
Thomas Lemar played the full 90 minutes for Monaco in their 2-1 French Super Cup defeat to PSG on Saturday.
Meanwhile. Le10Sport in France reveal that Liverpool have joined the race for Lemar.
They claim that Liverpool have made an inquiry for Lemar, with constant speculation linking Philippe Coutinho with a move to Barcelona.
Is Philippe Coutinho leaving Liverpool?
Whilst Liverpool continue to deny Coutinho is leaving, they have been linked with Manuel Lanzini of West Ham as a potential replacement.
Le10Sport add on Liverpool’s interest in Lemar that their “interest has not yet been translated into concrete actions such as contact with Monaco or a discussion with the players’ entourage. But with the acceleration in the likely moves of Neymar and Coutinho, it should not be long…”
It would be a huge shock were Liverpool to beat Arsenal to Thomas Lemar, but he does look like a good replacement for Philippe Coutinho.
Monaco continue to say they want to keep Lemar despite the fact French reports suggest the Les Bleus winger is keen on a move to Arsenal.
