Georginio Wijnaldum to leave Newcastle
One of the big transfer rumours in England on Monday centres on the future of Newcastle’s Dutch international midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.
Signed for £14.5 million last summer from PSV, Wijnaldum scored 11 times in the Premier League last term as the Magpies were relegated to the Championship.
Wijnaldum has shown no intention of wanting to stay with the Toon in England’s second tier, while Tottenham had been linked with a move for the 25-year-old in recent times.
However on Monday, Liverpool are listed at the front of the pack.
Liverpool in first place for Wijnaldum
The likes of the Liverpool Echo are reporting on the Reds pursuit of Wijnaldum, stating the Scousers need to shell out at least £25 million pounds to get the deal done.
According to the Echo, Liverpool are keen to complete the signing before the club travel to America on Thursday for the next stage of their pre-season training.
Moreover, Liverpool’s interest in the Dutch midfielder has been piqued after efforts to sign Piotr Zielinski has floundered.
Some tweets on Wijnaldum to Liverpool are below.
Gotta be honest. I'm really not impressed by the Wijnaldum links. He scored 35% of all his goals in 1 game against Norwich.

Reminder that Wijnaldum scored more PL goals than any LFC player last season while playing for one of the worst sides in the league.

Wijnaldum: Versatile, very strong in the dribble, attack-minded, intelligent runs, good in transition, speed of feet plus thought#LFC
