Liverpool & Lyon’s Nabil Fekir
On Thursday it’s the turn of the Independent to update Liverpool fans on the race to sign Nabil Fekir.
Recent days had seen a handful of negative stories spill out.
It was reported that Liverpool and Lyon’s transfer talks had stalled. The picture was painted that Lyon’s president Jean-Michel Aulas was digging his heels in over Fekir’s move.
But according to today’s Independent, Liverpool could agree a deal for Fekir before the weekend.
Fekir’s Anfield transfer timetable
Could Liverpool sign Fekir this week? The Independent believe that’s a definite possibility:
Liverpool’s summer transfer programme accelerated on Wednesday, with the probability of at least one target being secured inside the next 24 hours increasing dramatically.
Aulas has realised a pre-World Cup agreement (for Nabil Fekir) might be the most profitable way of moving forward because ultimately at this stage Liverpool will have to calculate the potential of summer performance into their offer.
The Independent also talk about Liverpool’s interest in Stoke City’s Xherdan Shaqiri.
Shaqiri, who has a 12 million pound release clause, seems set to leave Stoke this summer.
The way the Independent report the story, Liverpool could buy both Shaqiri and Fekir to boost their attacking options.

Fekir, a versatile 24-year-old forward/winger who can play anywhere across the frontline or in an attacking midfield role, has been on the books of Lyon since joining the club from Saint-Priest in 2011.
Last season the Lyon player netted 23 goals in 40 appearances in all competitions earning himself a place in Didier Deschamps’ World Cup squad this summer.
