Jurgen Klopp celebrates Liverpool win at West Ham

Liverpool fans will love Jurgen Klopp’s comments on Naby Keita

Will Liverpool sign Naby Keita?

Liverpool have made two very astute signings so far in Mohamed Salah and Dominic Solanke.

Salah has improved immeasurably over the past couple of seasons and has the speed and quality to make a real difference for Liverpool next season.

Solanke was the best player at the Under-20 World Cup won by England and could well be a key member of the Liverpool squad, putting pressure on Roberto Firmino.

Besides those two signings, Liverpool have been very quiet, but the links with Naby Keita and Virgil van Dijk seemingly never go away.

Jurgen Klopp on Naby Keita

On Monday, German newspaper Kicker have quoted Jurgen Klopp discussing RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita.

RB Leipzig are standing very firm on their stance not to sell Keita and in recent hours some sources have suggested that they will not sell to Liverpool for any price.

Liverpool, according to Kicker, have offered 68 million euros for Keita. And, they are willing to go up to 80 million euros. A fee which would smash their transfer record.

Klopp discussed the negotiations as follows: “They [Leipzig] say ‘Find another car in a different color,’ but you say ‘Thank you, but I want this.'”

“You see the car you’ve been dreaming of all your life…”

This could well sum up the way Premier League clubs are spending money this summer, such is the financial strength of the English top division compared to the rest of Europe.

Klopp continued with the car analogy: “You see the car you’ve been dreaming of all your life, you say ‘Here’s the money’, but they tell you ‘I do not want to sell the car.'” You say ‘But I have the money!’, But they say ‘I do not want to sell’.”

The Liverpool boss also told Kicker: “I can imagine it’s annoying for the fans, they think, ‘Oh my God, nothing happens here… If I could decide for myself, we would have been complete since last season’s last day, but these are dreams. It is not that we are more stupid than others clubs or smarter than them.”

Kicker also claim that Liverpool are close to signing Andy Robertson from Hull for 9 million euros.
