Liverpool could want as much as £25 million for Burnley target Nathaniel Phillips

Liverpool could want as much as £25 million for Burnley target Nathaniel Phillips

Phillips wants game time

Liverpool could be about to make another crazy sale and earn a good amount of money from some surplus talent.

With the arrival of Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig and Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez returning from their injury issues, Nathaniel Phillips is looking unlikely to get anywhere close to the same amount of minutes he got last season.

Speaking recently, he spoke of the necessity to get regular game time.

“The plan at the moment is to go back to Liverpool for pre-season and just go from there, really,” he said.

“Every player wants to be playing games, and at the stage I’m at, I need to be playing games for my development. I think if you look from my first game last season to my last, there was development and I felt a lot more confident and comfortable. I want to keep that progression.

“In terms of Liverpool, they obviously play a huge amount of games every year. Game-time is never guaranteed for anyone, but it would depend on whether there’s enough opportunity within those games for me, I guess.”

Burnley and Brighton are said to be considered the interested parties.

Phillips’ £25 million price

But what price could the Reds earn for their surplus talent.

Goal report that Liverpool look at Phillips similar to a number of deals which have taken place to players they see of similar quality.

Liverpool view the likes of Adam Webster, who joined Brighton from Bristol City, Ben Godfrey (Norwich to Everton), Ben Gibson (Middlesbrough to Burnley) and Alfie Mawson (Swansea to Fulham) as comparable deals.

Ben Gibson joined Burnley in 2018 for a fee of around £15 million. Whereas Ben Godfrey went to Everton from Norwich for a fee in the region of £25 million in 2020.

To think Liverpool could get close to £25 million for a player they nearly sold for £4 million in 2020 is very impressive. However, seeing the money made from Rhian Brewster, Jordan Ibe and Dominic Solanke, it may simply be another name on a brilliant sales list.
