Word doing the rounds in the English media this weekend suggests that Arsenal are far from the only Premier League outfit keen on the signature of Martin Odegaard this summer.

Gunners switch

Norwegian creator Odegaard was of course once viewed as the next up and coming star of European football.

After returning to parent club Real on the back of an impressive loan stint with La Liga rivals Real Sociedad last season, however, the 22-year-old majorly struggled for game-time.

In fact, over the opening half of the Spanish top-flight campaign, Odegaard was afforded a paltry 3 starts.

In turn, it came as little surprise to see another temporary departure from the Bernabeu widely touted upon the opening of the January transfer window, with Arsenal, in the end, having beaten out all competition to clinch a deal.

Odegaard made the move to the Emirates for the remainder of the campaign, to alleviate some of the creative burden on the shoulders of the young Emile Smith Rowe:

Liverpool join hunt?

Arsenal’s latest midfield addition has since gone on to to feature on 12 occasions, including from the off in 7 of the club’s last 9 outings.

And the Norwegian, all told, has thoroughly impressed, adding some much-needed guile to the Gunners’ ranks in the middle of the park.

The last couple of weeks have proven particularly fruitful for Odegaard, with the Real loanee, days after opening his account in Arsenal colours in spectacular fashion versus Olympiacos, having netted the equaliser in the North London Derby:

Then, last weekend, Odegaard was widely hailed for his starring role in Arsenal’s remarkable derby comeback versus West Ham.

As such, it has not come as too much of a surprise to see calls begin to mount amongst the capital giants’ fanbase for their midfield loanee to be brought in on a permanent basis in the summer.

But, as outlined above, if the latest speculation in the media is anything to go by, Edu and co. look set to face a fight, if they indeed intend to do so.

This comes amid claims that not one, but two of the Gunners’ Premier League rivals are also keen on Odegaard.

As per a report from the Daily Star, Arsenal ‘will have to fend off interest’ from both Liverpool and capital rivals Chelsea.

Not only that, but Mauricio Pochettino’s PSG are also said to be keeping a close eye on the situation, as the Norwegian’s impressive return to form continues to turn heads across the continent.
