Leicester City amongst clubs linked with Marseille’s Florian Thauvin

A recent report from France has credited Leicester City with an interest in Marseille’s Florian Thauvin.

Premier League fans will most likely remember Thauvin for his rather underwhelming stint with Newcastle United.
The Frenchman initially joined the Magpies from Marseille back in 2015, before going on to make 16 appearances for the club – in which he scored just one and assisted two.
Thauvin, in turn, was swiftly loaned back to Marseille, before his former club eventually re-signed him on a permanent basis in the summer of 2017.
And the right-winger has since gone on to enjoy a fruitful spell in the south of France.
Granted, he did miss the majority of the 2019/20 campaign due to injury.
But the early months of the new season have seen the 27-year-old dominate in the French top-flight.
In just eight Ligue 1 outings thus far, Thauvin has managed to notch three goals and five assists for Marseille.
Leicester linked with Thauvin
Such impressive displays appear to have attracted interest from several top sides around Europe.
This comes with Thauvin’s contract set to expire in the summer of 2021, making him an enticing free agent option.
And, according to a recent report from French outlet le10sport, though Marseille are said to be working to extend the winger’s deal, his list of suitors is ‘growing by the day’.
Amongst the clubs credited with an interest in Thauvin are AC Milan, Napoli and Premier League outfit, Leicester City.
With all three of these clubs of course outside of France, Thauvin is technically free to sign a pre-contract agreement with any of them from January.
