Chris Wood joins Burnley
Burnley’s move for Chris Wood had been a few days in the making.
The Premier League side have paid 15 million pounds for last season’s Championship top scorer.
The 25-year-old New Zealand attacker scored 27 goals in 44 appearances for Leeds last season.
On Saturday, Wood revealed that he did not want to play for Leeds as he was close to securing a dream move to the Premier League.
Will Chris Wood score goals in the Premier League?
Wood spent two seasons at Leeds and after scoring so many goals last season, will surely be missed.
Burnley look a little short of goals up front. After beating Chelsea on the opening day, the Blues failed to score in the 1-0 defeat to West Brom on Saturday.
Leeds have made a strong start to the Championship, bagging eight points from four matches.
Wood’s final goal for Leeds came in the opening day win over Bolton.
Leeds produce awesome gesture after Chris Wood joins Burnley
Following the departure of their start striker, Leeds produced an awesome gesture for their fans.
Especially when you consider how many Leeds fans would have had “Wood” and number 9 on the back of their shirts.
Leeds announced: “Leeds United are advising any fans who have ‘Wood 9’ printed on the back of a 2017/18 home or away replica shirt that they are able to return the item to our club shop and exchange it for a new blank replica shirt.”
Wood could well make his debut for Burnley against Tottenham at Wembley on Sunday.
Leeds face a busy week, playing Newport County in the League Cup on Tuesday following an exciting Championship encounter at Nottingham Forest.
