Leeds confirm signing of Arsenal talent Greenwood with Robin Koch set to follow suit

A pair of transfer updates surrounding Premier League newcomers Leeds United have been forthcoming online on Friday.

Gunners starlet arrives

First, the Whites have announced the signing of highly-regarded youngster Sam Greenwood.

18-year-old striker Greenwood has spent the last two years plying his trade with Arsenal, since making the move to north London from Sunderland.

After impressing as part of the Gunners’ under-18 setup this past season, meanwhile, suggestions had since circulated that the teen could be fast-tracked into a role with the club’s under-23s next time out.

This, however, will not prove the case.

Instead, Greenwood has opted to take his talents to Leeds.

In a post across the club’s social media platforms earlier today, the Whites confirmed that English youth international Greenwood has put pen-to-paper on a 3-year deal at Elland Road:

A fee has not been revealed for Greenwood’s Leeds switch, though previous reports suggested that the young attacker was likely to set Marcelo Bielsa’s men back around £1.5 million, rising to £3 million with bonuses.

Koch incoming

The Peacocks, though, look far from done when it comes to additions.

As per a number of reliable sources on Friday, a move for Freiburg defender Robin Koch is now also close to completion.

24-year-old Koch enjoyed a fine 2019/20 campaign, notching starts in all but 3 of his side’s Bundesliga outings, as Christian Streich’s men narrowly missed out on a Europa League berth.

However, the twice-capped German international’s current deal at the Schwarzwald-Stadion has just a solitary year to run, with Freiburg sporting director Klemens Hartenbach having previously confirmed Koch’s intention to move on.

Leeds, in turn, have long looked favourites to strike a deal for the stopper, amid the club’s struggles to negotiate Ben White’s return.

And, as per the likes of Phil Hay of the Athletic, the Whites are now ‘on the verge’ of striking an agreement with Freiburg:

Others, meanwhile, have gone as far as to claim that Koch has already bid farewell to his teammates at the Schwarzwald-Stadion:
