Kimpembe responds to question about Man United’s Paul Pogba joining PSG

Kimpembe responds to question about Man United’s Paul Pogba joining PSG

France vs Germany

France will get their Euro 2020 campaign underway on Tuesday evening.

Les Bleus are set to face off with Germany at the Allianz Arena in their opening clash.

France then face meetings with Portugal and Hungary to round out the group stage.

Despite having been placed in a pretty tough group, though, France are still amongst the favourites to go on and win Euro 2020.

Didier Deschamps’ side are, of course, the current World Cup holders. They also made it to the final of Euro 2016, before losing to Portugal, a result Les Bleus will no doubt be keen to avenge this time around.

Kimpembe on Paul Pogba

Ahead of his side’s Euros opener, France centre-back Presnel Kimpembe has been discussing teammate Paul Pogba.

Pogba currently plays his club football for Manchester United, but has just one year left on his current contract.

This has seen the midfielder’s future at Old Trafford called into question. In recent days, both Juventus and PSG have been linked with Pogba.

In turn, with Kimpembe currently honing his craft with the latter, the defender was today asked if Pogba joining PSG has been discussed.

However, Kimpembe assured that he has not talked over the possibility with Pogba, with the United man a ‘big boy’ who doesn’t need anyone to make up his mind for him:

“I didn’t discuss it with him.

“He’s a big boy, he doesn’t need anyone to make up his mind. Any club would be happy to welcome him.

“It only depends on him, his agent and his future club.”

What has Pogba said about his contract situation?

Pogba, for his part, was drawn on his contract situation last week, and had the following to say:

“I have one year of my contract left, everyone knows that. There haven’t been any concrete offers yet. We finished the season, as I said there was the Europa League final (which United lost to Villarreal on penalties), and after that we finished the holidays.

“We haven’t spoken. I am still at Man Utd, the only thought I have for the future is the Euros. I have a little more experience than before. I really want to focus on the present, and the present is the Euros today.

“All things about the club, when there are competitions like this, I avoid. That’s why I have an agent, and he takes care of all that.”
