Will the Phil Coutinho to Barcelona rumours ever go away?!
In many ways you have to admire the Catalan press, they are simply not giving up on Philippe Coutinho joining Barcelona this January.
Once Neymar left Barcelona, there was no getting away from Philippe Coutinho rumours last summer.
Yet, Liverpool dug their heels in and held onto their Brazilian superstar. This was despite a transfer request, at least three bids from Barcelona and constant speculation.
Liverpool & Barcelona to meet next week
Despite the fact Philippe Coutinho has been reintegrated into the Liverpool side and playing some fine football, Mundo Deportivo continue to report that a January move is likely.
Mundo Deportivo report today that there will be a meeting next week between Liverpool and Barcelona.
The La Liga giants do not want to wait until next summer to complete their move for Coutinho.
Kia Joorabchian gets involved, again
Barcelona have appointed agent Kia Joorabchian as the man to oversee negotiations between the two clubs.
The Catalans look likely to offer 80 million euros plus 30 million euros in incentives in the meeting next week.
Even Mundo Deportivo admit this won’t be accepted. And, in the current transfer market looks way below the market value of Coutinho.
Does Philippe Coutinho have an agreement with Liverpool?
In Barcelona’s favour, if it is even true at all, is the suggestion from Mundo Deportivo that Philippe Coutinho came to an agreement with Liverpool in the summer.
Apparently Coutinho agreed to play in the Champions League so long as he could get his move to Barcelona in January.
However, this all depends on Barcelona submitting an acceptable offer to Liverpool for Coutinho.
Barcelona have not stopped their contacts with Coutinho and his agents Kia Joorabchian and Giuliano Bertolucci.
Even though Coutinho cannot now play for Barcelona in the Champions League this season, the La Liga side gave their word to the Brazilian that they would continue to fight for him.
