Jose Mourinho reportedly keen on Ruben Dias/Fulham eyeing Tottenham’s Juan Foyth

Jose Mourinho reportedly keen on Ruben Dias/Fulham eyeing Tottenham’s Juan Foyth

A pair of updates regarding a potential shakeup in Tottenham’s defensive ranks have come to light over the weekend.

Tottenham eyeing centre-back

It appears as though Jose Mourinho is still not 100 per cent happy with his backline.

This comes with Matt Doherty and Sergio Reguilon having already reinforced the Lilywhites’ ranks of late.

Now, though, after improving his options at full-back, Mourinho is said to be eyeing additions at centre-half.

According to the Evening Standard:

Spurs are also in the market for a centre-half, with Benfica’s Ruben Dias among Mourinho’s preferred options.

Dias, 23, represents one of the top talents in Portuguese football, and has previously been linked with Manchester City.

Understandably, Benfica do not appear too keen to part with their gifted stopper, though, with the Standard revealing that the Portuguese powerhouse refused to sell him in January.

However, the report also speculates that the financial impact of Covid-19, combined with Benfica’s failure to secure a Champions League berth for this season, may force the club to rethink their stance on Dias.

Fulham interested in Juan Foyth

One centre-back who seemingly doesn’t fit into Mourinho’s first-team plans, though, is Juan Foyth.

The Argentine made just seven appearances across all competitions last season, and hasn’t played competitive football for Spurs in 2020.

He has also been completely omitted from both of the club’s matchday squads this term.

As such, it would make sense for the north Londoners to cash in on the 22-year-old ASAP.

Leeds United have previously been linked with the stopper, but is now appears as though another newly-promoted outfit have begun to show an interest in Foyth.

The club in question comes in the form of Fulham, with The Athletic’s Peter Rutzler having confirmed that Scott Parker and co. are interested in landing Foyth on a permanent basis:
