West Ham agree Jose Fonte deal
Duncan Castles has broken the news on Thursday that Jose Fonte is on his way out of West Ham.
Now 34-years-old, the former Southampton centre-half has been marginalised since David Moyes took charge of the Hammers.
Having been a regular starter for Slaven Bilic, Fonte hasn’t been seen in a Premier League since the 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace back in October.
In total he clocked up 688 minutes in the league this season in eight matches.
Off to Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang
It’s been reported that West Ham have agreed to sell Jose Fonte to Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang.
Fonte will move for €5.5m, while the defender is expected to travel to Asia on Monday to complete the transfer.
Dalian Yifang won promotion to the CSL last season after they won the second division. They are a club made up almost entirely of home grown Chinese players, and one suspects they’ll be relegation strugglers this season.
After Fonte departs, West Ham will have Angelo Ogbonna, James Collins and Winston Reid as their main centre-half options until the end of the season.
Liverpool vs West Ham
On Saturday Liverpool return to Premier League action as West Ham come to town.
Jurgen Klopp’s team have kept consecutive clean sheets in their last two games. They had conceded 12 goals in their previous 8 games.
West Ham have only won one in their last 7 away matches in all competitions and have struggled on the road this term.
Liverpool were rampant when the two sides met earlier in the season. Mo Salah of course, scored twice whilst Joel Matip and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain added goals later on as Liverpool won 4-1 at the London Stadium.
