Jonathan David responds to Manchester United transfer rumours

Jonathan David has opened up on his links to Manchester United.

Jonathan David signed for Lille in 2020 and has since gone on to impress in France.

Despite only being 22, he has scored 41 and assisted eight for the French outfit.

David is having a particularly fruitful 2022/23 season, netting nine and assisting three in 15 outings to date.

The Canadian’s nine goals make him one of the top scorers in Europe’s top five leagues this season.

And according to recent reports, Manchester United are considering making a move for Lille forward Jonathan David as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

The aforementioned exploits of David are said to have attracted interest from Old Trafford, but David has said when quizzed on links to United: “I am aware of nothing. When I am at the World Cup I am just focused on trying to enjoy the World Cup and enjoying the moment.

“What happens after I do not know, we will have to see. The Premier League is the best league in the world and I think every player would want to play there some day.”

Canada have been knocked out of the World Cup after losing to Morocco on Thursday. David now has plenty of time to consider his options.
