Arsenal & Chelsea
Who will be in the dugouts of Arsenal and Chelsea come the start of next season?
The Gunners have been linked with a slew of high profile managers ever since Arsene Wenger’s departure from the club was confirmed.
As for Chelsea, Antonio Conte remains under contract until the end of next season. Yet it’s an open secret that Conte will be leaving the Blues when the season ends.
Arsenal betting odds
Below are latest odds on who will be the next Arsenal manager.
Gunners ‘cool’ on Luis Enrique
In the past few days it’s become increasingly clear that former Roma and Barcelona boss Luis Enrique will not be succeeding Wenger.
The latest news outlet to assert that are France Football.
They report that Arsenal have “cooled their interest” in Enrique, and they cite financial issues as the reason.
Enrique is said to have asked for a huge pay packet at the Emirates Stadium.
Moreover, in a sign of how Enrique viewed Arsenal’s title winning potential, the coach reportedly asked for a €230 million transfer budget this summer.
For the record, Enrique wished to invest that money in Arsenal’s defence and central midfield roles.
Enrique & Chelsea
While Enrique’s demands seem to have been too rich for Arsenal, could he join Chelsea instead?
France Football push that line, telling their readers that “Luis Enrique is actually more tempted by Chelsea” than Arsenal.
Leonardo Jardim to Arsenal
The main update in France Football is to claim that Monaco coach Leonardo Jardim is still in the frame for the Gunners job.
It’s claimed that the “Portuguese is very popular among the Gunners.”
Jardim is under contract with Monaco until 2020. He reportedly earns 4 million euros a season, which seems like a sum Arsenal could pay.
Whether Jardim does in fact get the Arsenal job remains unknown.
Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri appears to be the other main contender being assessed by Arsenal.
