Ivan Perisic’s Man United move is ‘close’

Ivan Perisic & Man United

Before Man United headed back to Europe from their American tour, Jose Mourinho made it clear to the media he expects more signings at Old Trafford before the start of the season.

So far Victor Lindelof has joined from Benfica, while Romelu Lukaku moved from Everton.

The Special One voiced his hope to have two more new additions to the his squad, although he said he could accept it if just one more player can through the door.

Could that player be Ivan Perisic?

The Croatian international has long been tipped with a summer move from Inter Milan, however the clubs are yet o agree on a deal for he 28-year-old left winger.

Mixed messages

In recent days, Inter boss Luciano Spalletti has been voicing mixed messages about Perisic.

Spalletti said that Inter could be forced to sell the player if the right offer was submitted, but a day later he told the media he believed any deal for Perisic was off.

One suspects that Inter are simply trying to force Man United’s hand into tabling an offer closer to the Italian’s 50 million euro asking price.

The Star on Sunday

According to the Star on Sunday, Perisic’s move to Man United seems close.

Unfortunately the back page of the tabloid offers no great insight into (a) when the deal may happen, (b) how much the Perisic deal will cost or (c) any other details on the player’s possible Old Trafford contract.

Those omissions leave readers wondering whether the Star actually know anything, or whether they are simply going to print with a story based on wishful thinking.
