Counting on him
Manchester United have been linked with Inter winger Ivan Perisic for the majority of the summer.
Club representatives have already flown to Milan to begin negotiations, but Inter Milan don’t intend to sell the player.
“He’s an important player in the team and we’re counting on him to start the new season,” said manager Luciano Spalletti.
“Sure, there were rumours, but the status quo is that we want to keep Perisic.
“Having said that, if someone comes in with a very difficult offer to reject, then we’ll consider that.”
Perisic’s preferred position is out on the left but the Croat is versatile and is capable of playing in many positions including centrally.
Mourinho recently confirmed that he intends to bring in at least one more player this window, following the signings of Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku, and that the players he’s looking for are central and wide players.
Jose Mourinho, of course, won the Champions League during his time as manager of Inter.
Perisic would cost United close to £50m.
