Italian website Tutto Mercato Web (TMW) have announced on Wednesday that Inter Milan struggler Nemanja Vidic may return to Man United in January.
Indeed, TMW go so far as to claim that the Red Devils have made contact with the player about a return to Old Trafford.
Against that backdrop it’s hard to know just how reliable this TMW report is, as the Italians couch their information in a unnamed “British source”.
Nevertheless, the rumour appears to have some merit as Vidic, who has failed to excel at the San Siro since his summer move, has yet to feature for new boss Roberto Mancini since his arrival at the club.
TMW go on to say that were Vidic to return to United, Louis van Gaal would be ready to welcome the Serb back into the fold as a back-up option in defence, rather than handing the 33-year-old a starting role in the team.
Vidic played 300 games for Man United in his eight years at the club.
