‘I can’t do this recruitment job alone’: Bruno Guimaraes sends transfer message to Newcastle

Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has sent a transfer message to his new club ahead of the summer transfer window opening.

Bruno was signed from French outfit Lyon during the January window, joined by Chris Wood, Dan Burn, Matt Targett and Kieran Trippier as the Magpies took advantage of their new-found wealth to stave off relegation.

Bruno has since hit the ground running on Tyneside, scoring four and assisting one in 13 league outings to date.

And now, after less than six months at the club, the Brazilian is seemingly offering Newcastle United some transfer advice.

When playing for Lyon, Bruno formed an excellent partnership with Lucas Paqueta in the French side’s midfield.

In turn, in a recent interview, Bruno dropped a major hint that he wants Newcastle to sign his fellow countryman:

“It’d be my dream. Paqueta is my best friend,” he told ESPN. “We had a relationship, not only on the field, but we lived together all the time outside. Our wives together too. It was a brotherly relationship. We still talk every day. It would be really cool if he could come here, but I can’t do this [recruitment] job [alone].”

Paqueta has three years left on his current Lyon deal and is one of their star players. So, whilst it may be hard for Newcastle to prise the midfielder away from the club, the lure of an increased wage packet and a reunion with a close friend could persuade the 24-year-old to swap France for England's North East.
