Good news for Liverpool? Jean Michael Seri agrees deal with Barcelona

Barcelona close to signing Jean Michael Seri

If Barcelona sign Jean Michael Seri, will they still move for Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho?

That has to be the question on Liverpool fans’ lips today as there are conflicting reports regarding the Brazilian midfielder.

Whilst some of the Catalan press claim the Coutinho move is off, Sport have suggested in recent hours that Barcelona continue to target the Liverpool star.

Meanwhile, there is now little doubt that Barcelona are close to signing Jean Michael Seri.

Barcelona agree terms with Seri

French newspaper L’Equipe report on Monday that Seri has agreed personal terms with Barcelona.

Negotiations between Barcelona and Nice will take place on Monday.

Seri played for Nice and grabbed an assist on Saturday in a 2-0 win over Guingamp.

The Ivory Coast midfielder could well be needed for when Nice play Napoli on Tuesday night.

The French side are up against it to keep their Champions League hopes alive, having lost the first leg to Napoli 2-0.

Barcelona strengthen their midfield

According to widespread reports, Seri has been recommended by Barcelona legend Xavi.

The 24-year-old was also linked with a whole host of English clubs such as Arsenal, Tottenham and even Liverpool.

Barcelona are expected to pay around 40 million euros for Seri.

So far, since Neymar left, Barcelona have improved their midfield with the signing of Paulinho.

Meanwhile, Barcelona remain in the hunt for Borussia Dortmund attacker Ousmane Dembele.

With just 10 days to go of the summer transfer window, it seems certain that Barcelona will be active.

Liverpool supporters will be hoping this deal for Seri means Philippe Coutinho stays at Anfield.
