Antonio Conte unlikely to get Italian job
For months Chelsea fans have been consuming stories claiming Antonio Conte will leave the club at the end of the season.
Conte has looked and sounded unhappy since he won the Premier league title in his first season at Chelsea.
The Italian has clashed with the Chelsea board repeatedly on the issue on transfers. Even though some believe that Conte has been crying a little too much about the club’s recruitment policies.
While Conte is under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2019, many have speculated whether Conte will leave his post when the season closes.
At the same time Conte has been linked with the vacant Azzurri post, which he held before taking the reigns in west London.
But, according to the Italian press on Sunday, the Italian FA are moving away from Conte as they gear up to announce their next boss.
Roberto Mancini vs Carlo Ancelotti
Both Corriere dello Sport and Tuttosport run with the same story on Sunday.
Roberto Mancini and Carlo Ancelotti are battling it out to become the new Azzurri boss.
Put another way, the Italian FA have moved away from considering a move for Chelsea’s Conte, or Claudio Ranieri.
Chelsea fans may welcome those updates as it increases the chances Conte could yet see out his contract with the Pensioners.
Alternatively, could this open the door for PSG to poach the Chelsea boss?
It’s believed the Italian FA will name heir next manager on May 20.
Of course, Italy will not be at the 2018 World Cup after they failed to reach the finals for the first time since 1958.
