Gladbach prepare for Xhaka’s exit
Once again all signs are pointing to Swiss international midfielder Granit Xhaka leaving Borussia Monchengladbach to join Arsenal this summer.
On Saturday, in the final match of the Bundesliga season, Gladbach won 2-0 away at Darmstadt 98.
With the match already sown up in the final stages, Xhaka was subbed in the 83rd minute, and he received a standing ovation and hugs from his own team’s bench.
For weeks Xhaka has been said to be on the verge of a move to the Gunners, while Germany’s Sport 1 have claimed the transfer is “imminent” and that “everything is fixed with Arsenal”, while it predicting that the midfielder will cost between 30 to 40 million euros.
Gladbach will make a huge profit on Xhaka, who they signed from Basel in 2012 for just £6.5m.
Anderlecht starlet Tielemans
On Sunday, RP Online have reported that Gladbach are targeting Anderlecht’s attacking midfielder Youri Tielemans to replace Xhaka.
Still just a teenager but with 100 games already under his belt, Tielemans established himself as a key player in the Anderlecht first team and the big clubs have been sniffing around for some time.
Tielemans is expected to cost between 15 to 20 million euros.
For the record, Bild have previously listed Bayern Munich’s Sebastian Rode as the likely replacement for Xhaka at Gladbach.
