Steven Gerrard & Rangers: Odds crash after Celtic defeat

Celtic 5 – Rangers 0

Celtic are on course for their second treble in successive seasons.

On Sunday at Parkhead, Celtic destroyed Rangers in the Old Firm derby to wrap up the title.

Odsonne Edouard fired Celtic into a 2-nil lead against their eternal rivals, while Rangers were dead and buried after James Forrest scored a third on the stroke of halftime.

Celtic wrapped yup their win with further goals from Tom Rogic and Callum McGregor.

Steven Gerrard & Rangers

According to reports in Scotland on Sunday, Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has given the green light to Rangers.

Graeme Murty has been in the Rangers dugout since the departure of Pedro Caixinha. However Gerrard has been lined up to be the next Rangers boss.

It’s believed Gerrard could move to Ibrox with former Liverpool and Scotland international Gary McAllister.

But will Rangers’ heavy defeat to Celtic have deterred Gerrard from taking the job at Ibrox?

For the record, Gerrard is the current manager of Liverpool’s U18 side.

The Times have reported an update on whether Gerrard is still Rangers bound on Monday morning:

Gerrard was thought to have been close to accepting the job to replace the caretaker Graeme Murty but although there was speculation that the nature of Rangers’ defeat might see Murty removed for the final three games of the Ladbrokes Premiership season, Gerrard, the former Liverpool and England midfielder, is understood to be keen for more talks before making a decision.

Reading between the lines, it’s clear that Gerrard still isn’t totally convinced by Rangers.
