Georginio Wijnaldum keen on idea of joining Arsenal

Reports coming out of England suggest that Georginio Wijnaldum is open to returning to England.
The Dutchman left Liverpool for PSG at the end of last season but has since struggled for form and regular game time in Paris.
And now, as per ESPN citing Sky Sports, Wijnaldum could be set for a move back to the Premier League and is keen on the idea of joining Arsenal.
Wijnaldum is reportedly keen to return to England’s top-flight just six months after leaving Liverpool for PSG on a free transfer as he has endured a mixed season in Ligue 1 and struggled to hold down a regular place in Mauricio Pochettino’s midfield.
Instead of returning to Liverpool, though, the Netherlands international is said to want to join the Gunners, the club he admired as a boy.
However, there is a stumbling block as PSG do not want to lose the midfielder mid-season and Wijnaldum isn’t expected to publicly push for a move away.
Arsenal’s midfield woes
On paper, Wijnaldum looks like a solid option to help solve Arsenal’s midfield issues.
The Gunners are very light in that department at present, with Mohamed Elneny out of contract in the summer and Granit Xhaka continuing to prove his unreliability, it seems obvious that Arsenal need some fresh legs in that spot to continue progressing as a side.
And as shown during his time with Liverpool, Wijnaldum is a very reliable option who hardly ever gets injured, he works very hard and is also creative enough when required.
One issue, though, is that Wijnaldum, now 31, does not really fit the mould of Arsenal’s current transfer model, which has seen them focus on younger talents generally 24 and under.
