Galatasaray’s Kevin Grosskreutz will be Jurgen Klopp’s first Liverpool signing in January [Takvim]

According to the rumour mill, Kevin Grosskreutz will become Jurgen Klopp’s first Liverpool signing in January.

The story is currently being promulgated by the likes of the Telegraph and the Independent, however the source of the story comes from a Turkish news outlet called Takvim.

Holding my hands up, I’ve never heard of Takvim before. And, from experience, the Turkish media often get transfer rumours wrong.

Yet this time things may be different.

Grosskreutz’s career is currently in limbo at Galatasaray. The 27-year-old German winger tried moving to Gala from Borussia Dortmund at the end of the summer transfer window, however FIFA refused to certify the move due to paperwork problems.

Grosskreutz has since been on the sidelines, while he’s only able to play for Galatasaray in January.

Unsurprisingly, say the Turkish media, Grosskreutz isn’t happy with his new club for bungling his move, and now he wants to jump ship to join old boss Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

The report says that the deal would be worth around €2.5million (£1.8m) and could be announced within 10 days.
